I met up with Parker and Becca in the morning on the most moodiest days in the winter on the Oregon Coast: And it was the prettiest elopement ever! I still can’t get over the silky waves, the warm wind, and the orange cliffs at this Hug Point elopement.

We happened to plan this elopement during a king tide, so we weren’t able to make it to the waterfall area. But, we still had so much fun running around the entrance of Hug Point, playing around on the rocks and watching the crazy waves. These two were giggling and laughing the whole time, it was the sweetest!

The Location: Hug Point

Hug Point State Park is located near Cannon Beach, Oregon. There’s a small parking lot (no parking pass fee!) and down a few steps takes you to the beach. The beach is covered with river rock and there is some forested area near the parking lot. To the right, there’s a gorgeous orange point. At low tide, walk around the point to get to the main attraction: the infamous waterfall. Make sure you visit at low tide if you want to see the waterfall, as you have to get around the point to see it in the next cove. Also, be sure to track when the tide starts coming in, as you don’t want to get stuck in there! To see it at peak flow, head over during the rainier months and after some significant rainfall. One time, I visited in early October and it wasn’t even flowing due to lack of rainfall that year!

Even if you end up not being able to see the waterfall, the area is still gorgeous with the orange cliff sides and rocky shore. The waves are gorgeous as well! It’s a great location for dramatic views with no hiking involved.

The Ceremony

We spent the morning exploring our little stretch of beach, laughing and talking about their stay along the coast. Becca’s dress was flowy and matched the vibe perfectly, and so did Parker’s tan and black attire! I still seriously can’t get over how sweet these two humans are, it was such an honor to capture their Hug Point elopement.
