This day was filled with so much love. Eloping on the Oregon Coast any time of year is beautiful, but those winter days where it’s calm, there’s no wind, and the clouds make everything feel cozy, makes winter such a beautiful time for an Oregon coast elopement. That being said, of course you have to remember that the Oregon COAST is not a BEACH (inside joke for everyone who lives in Oregon, hehe). So, packing warmer clothes, a blanket, and even a rain jacket is always a good idea. I always tell my couples, especially if they are coming out of town, it may rain, but even if it does, man is it worth it.
The afternoon started with some beautiful flat lay and detail shots for their day: Erica’s gorgeous dress hanging in the coastal forest, her bouquet with the creamy velvet and silk ribbon from Nettle + Silk, and their stunning rings and vow books.
The Location
I suggested Hobbit Beach as an elopement location because, well, LOOK AT IT! But also because it’s a shorter hike to the beach, and you get the forest and the beach as backdrops. It’s so beautiful to see the pine trees and the ocean waves all in one spot. Once we made it down to the beach, we were greeted with the softest clouds and the prettiest little stream of peachy colored light. It had been raining the whole drive over so to come to the beach and see that gorgeous view made it such a perfect evening for an Oregon coast elopement.
The Ceremony
The sand was cold but these two didn’t care! We spent the evening running around barefoot, exploring the beach, watching the waves, and promising forever. We saw one other person on the beach, which was so nice to have it pretty much all to ourselves. During the busier months or at other coastal locations, getting space along the coast for your elopement can be tricky. That’s why I always suggest to my couples to go on a weekday!
We ended the day with some lantern photos as the sun slowly crept beneath the dreamy blue waves, and we made our way back up to the parking lot as it got dark. As a celebration, we went to the yummiest dinner spot (in my opinion) in Florence, Homegrown Public House and Brewery. Nothing like a delicious PNW beer after saying “I do!”
