This sweet little beach tucked away near Florence is one of my favorite spots for an Oregon coast engagement session. The parking lot is right on the beach, making it super accessible, and there’s even a fun trail up through the coastal woods to a lighthouse! We got so lucky with the weather this evening and had a beautiful golden sunset for their photos.
The Location: Heceta Beach (Florence, Oregon)
Heceta Beach is a little cove along highway 101, about 20 minutes North of Florence. There is a day-use fee (it’s a State Park!) but totally worth it due to the accessibility: the sand is literally steps away from the parking lot. What’s also great about this location is the variety of backdrops you can get: there’s a little creek that offers more of a forest background, a grassy area, and a beautiful bridge that can all be beautiful settings for your photos. Then, there’s the beach itself, that also has some gorgeous rocks and caves on the North end. And then, there’s even the lighthouse trail and the lighthouse viewing area itself! So many places to explore. Fun Fact: You can book a room at the Lightkeeper’s house, which is right below the lighthouse!
The closest town is Florence, Oregon which has a cute little main street with shops and restaurants. They have your classic Mo’s Seafood right on the water, but my favorite go-to places to eat are Homegrown and Nosh. My absolute favorite coffee shop is River Roasters, located on the quiet end of the town and right on the water. There’s a little boardwalk area that looks over the dock, after you get some ice cream from the famous BJ’s, of course! Florence is definitely on the quieter side of coastal towns in Oregon, compared to the well-known Cannon Beach area. But, that’s definitely a positive! Way less crowds on the beach, and rarely any wait times for restaurants.

I grew up going to the Florence beaches and then heading into town for some yummy food and ice cream, so it’s always so nostalgic heading back to this sweet area.
